THERE'S a lot of pressure that comes with picking the perfect name for your newborn.

On the one hand, you want name them something classic which will suit them as they get older, but you might also want them to stand out a little bit.

Well this couple took choosing a name that stands out to a whole new level.

The mum and dad decided to give their son an unusual name that sounds a lot like something else – 'Phart'.

After a snap of the baby was shared online it was quickly reposted to Reddit were users were left in disbelief.

The picture was posted alongside the caption: "Little Baby Fart, such a mischief maker!"

users couldn't believe anyone would actually name their baby something that sounds like 'fart' with a slightly different spelling.

"I genuinely cannot figure out how this came to pass," one person commented in shock.

A second said: "I audibly laughed. I'd be unable to call this baby fart without dying laughing. Think of teachers, nurses etc."

And when someone else asked what the name means one user joked: "A slang term for phlatulence."

Meanwhile, some people mused how it might be pronounced.

"Maybe its pronounced 'furt' or 'fay-art' or even like 'fair-t'… horrible spelling for any of those pronunciations," they wrote.

"Omg I feel so bad cos I know this is a real little human who’s going to have to grow up with this name, but this post honestly made me howl," another laughed.

But not everyone found the name that funny and thought it was a bit cruel to give the baby such a bizarre name.

"This is cruel beyond belief," they quipped.
