Jillee, from Utah, revealed scrubbing the tub had been one of her “least favourite chores” before discovering this clever trick.

The mum-of-four wrote: “Every once in a while, I come across a tip or trick that sounds so strange or ‘out there’ that I simply have to give it a try!

“But thankfully the weird cleaning tip I’ll be sharing with you today was not a fail—not in the slightest!”

The mum-of-four revealed dish soap was the best product for making your bath sparkle, because “nothing works better at cutting through tough grease and grime”.

  • Dawn Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, Amazon, £5.91 – buy now

  • Silver Indoor Angled Kitchen Laminate Floor Sweeping Brush Broom, Dustpan & Brush, £4.95 – buy now

And the bristles on a broom work better than any scourers she's come across.

She shared with her 56k followers her three simple steps to clean tubs with minimal effort.

Jillee, a former TV journalist, wrote: “Grab your trusty Dawn dish soap (or the dish soap of your choice) and squirt some onto the bottom and sides of your bathtub.

“Then use the broom to sweep/scrub the soap around the tub.

“The scrubbing action of the bristles and the grease-cutting action of the Dawn will help cut through the soap scum, mildew, and other residues that build up in your bathtub.

“Then grab a cup, bucket, or your shower wand (if your tub has one), and rinse the soap down the drain.

“Then stand back and admire your clean, shiny bathtub!”

But she added if you were going to use this method regularly, it was best to invest in a new broom just to clean the bath.

Praising her simple technique, one person commented: “GENIUS!! Probably washes your broom, too!!”

Another wrote: “Genius. Those bug corner tubs are so hard to clean.”

A third said: “I love using my broom! It’s fun, too!”
