Moment Prince William was asked about Kate Middleton break-up resurfaces… and it’s SO awkwardDecember 18, 2018
Even more so for celebrities and royals in the public eye – especially when they're asked on camera in front of the world.
Like Prince William and Kate Middleton, for example – who split in 2007 before getting back together just weeks later.
During their break, a reporter was filmed asking Will "how are things going with Kate" at a press conference ahead of a Princess Diana memorial concert – and now it's resurfaced online.
In the unbearably awkward footage which also featured Prince Harry and singer Joss Stone, the reporter asks Will: "Tell us about the friends you've got coming along to the concert, I understand Kate and Chelsy will be joining you, how are things going with Kate?"
Will – who looked a little bit mortified – responded: "Er, well er, I've got lots of friends coming, everyone's going to be there on the night and it's going to be a great night basically."
Prince Harry – who couldn't hide his laughter in the clip – added: "Very well avoided William" while Will responded: "Very diplomatic" and Joss simply said: "Wow!"
Having now been married for seven years – and with three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – it's hard to imagine Kate and Will having problems.
Having met at the University of St. Andrews, the couple were together for four years before the relationship ended.
Speaking about their mutually agreed break-up in their engagement interview before their wedding, they admitted it was for the best.
William said: "We were both very young, it was at university and we were both finding ourselves and being different characters and stuff.
"It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up."
Kate added: "I think I… at the time wasn't very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person.
"You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realised, or I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well.
"Although I didn't think it at the time. Looking back on it."
