WHEN it comes to designing your home everyone has their own unique style and vibe.

But once a trend becomes too popular it’s in everyone's home and it makes your home look cheap and common.

Michaela is an interior fan and she has shared some top tips on how to make your home stand out.

She said: “These are my favourite tips if you want to make your home look more high end. Yes, there are more but I thought I’d start with these.”

Firstly hang your curtains high.

Even if you have a small window or door hanging your curtains high will give the illusion of more space.

Pick something nice you have seen in the shops or better still get your hands dirty and make it yourself.

Choose the correct size rug.

Picking a rug that is too small for a room is a common and rookie area.

A nice big rug that reaches out to all you furniture really helps bring your room together.

Of course be selective about the fabric you use and the bigger it is the more time you will spend cleaning it.

Installing statement lighting.

Most interior designers can agree that lighting is one of the most important features in a room.

Most of us don't like big bright central lights that usually come with our homes.

So grab a chic lamp and find a convenient place to put in your key rooms.

Perfect for sipping tea on cold winter nights.

Add flowers or branches.

We all feel better with a little nature around us and with nature comes colour.
