If you’re buying the Kardashians’ used bags you’re probably overpaying – what’s a good deal & what’s costing you DOUBLE
May 9, 2022INVESTING in designer bags feels less intimidating when you're buying pre-owned purses, but if those accessories once belonged to the Kardashians, you might be overpaying.
On the resale website Kardashian Kloset, fans of the family can buy clothes that reportedly belonged to the stars, but one fashion expert warns that not all the items on the site are a bargain.
In a two-part video series on TikTok, fashion resale expert Marc took viewers on a tour of the Kardashians' closet, and revealed which bags aren't a bargain after all.
"Today we'll be looking at Kylie's bags," Marc said.
"This shearling Chanel backpack sold for $2500," he said, pointing out the listing on Kardashian Kloset.
His gut instinct was that the bag seemed "like a pretty good deal," and after comparing it to other listings, he was right.

The same backpack, also used but in a different color, sold online for $2,000.
That $500 difference may seem significant, but for a designer bag, it's not as drastic a margin.
Plus, the Kardashian Kloset buy "was probably in much better condition and it was f***ing Kylie Jenner's," Marc said.
Next up was a Balenciaga fanny pack listed for $995 on the family's resale website.

Marc called that steep price a "red flag."
"Too trendy at the moment. A similar one sold new with tags for $515," the fashion pro said, sharing the listing he found online.
"Even if it's Kylie's, I don't think it's worth double the price."
Marc flagged a Gucci SoHo backpack listed for $1,400 on Kardashian Kloset, and a $5,200 Chanel boy bag in "iridescent mermaid green."
He said that both bags were a reasonable price compared to similar listings online, especially the hard-to-find Chanel.
Two Louis Vuitton bags, on the other hand, weren't great steals by any means.
Marc pointed out the monogrammed Speedy 30 listed on Kardashian Kloset for $900.
"The resale value of Speedys is terrible right now," he said, explaining that the bag can easily be found online for under $300.
"The problem here is believing that it was actually Kylie's."
A Louis Vuitton New Wave sold at $2,100 on the resale site, comparable to the same style in other colors on other websites.
Marc pointed out that the bag originally retailed for $2,400.
"What does that say about this style? That says it flopped," he stated.
Finally, Marc brought up one of the most expensive items on the website.
"Last we have this, which sold for that," pointing at a hand-painted Hermes Birkin bag that sold for $55,000.

Marc didn't have any comparisons for the wildly expensive bag.
"Someone just paid that with their credit card?!" he exclaimed.
