I refuse to have children – anyone who does is ignorant and selfish…& I'd never date a man who didn’t share my views | The SunJune 8, 2023
WHEN it comes to dating, the discussion of starting a family is often a topic of conversation saved for much further down the line.
But not for environmentally-conscious Susan, from Norfolk, who has only ever been open to dating men who share the same views as her when it comes to not wanting children.
In fact, the 67-year-old feels so strongly on the matter, she even goes so far as to brand anyone who does bring children into the world as "ignorant and selfish."
Speaking exclusively to Fabulous Digital, Susan, who is worried about how future family choices could impact the environment, admits: "I actually feel huge resentment towards people who are currently having children.
"It's an ignorant and selfish thing to do – 'adopt don’t shop!' (like with dogs).
"All my boyfriends/partners and husband were aware of my views and none of them wanted children.

Susan, who is a widow and is speaking out on behalf of Population Matters, has felt the same way since first hearing about the pressures we all put on the natural world.
I actually feel huge resentment towards people who are currently having children. It's an ignorant and selfish thing to do – 'adopt don’t shop!'
"Sir David Attenborough was warning us about the looming population explosion 50 years ago and how it would impact on wildlife – and actually, all our lives too," she explains.
"All of us consume and pollute – even those of us who try our hardest to cause the least damage possible.

Susan continues: "If people must have children, surely they could adopt instead, rather than bringing even more human beings onto a horribly overcrowded and nature depleted planet – all of us now containing micro-plastics in our bloodstream."
The 67-year-old goes on to ask: "What horrors will today's children face?
"Far more pandemics caused by industrial (horrendously evil) animal farming, antibiotic resistance, ever-increasing threat of nuclear war and polar bears a creature that can only be seen in history books."
But Susan isn't alone in how she feels – she's discussed the issue with like-minded people on Instagram, too.
"Almost everyone who loves wildlife/the natural world is aware that WE are the ones who are causing its demise," she claims.
All my boyfriends/partners and husband were aware of my views and none of them wanted children. I could not have been with a man who didn’t share the same views as I would have utter contempt for him
For that reason, while many see pregnancy and childbirth as a joyous occasion, Susan sees them as anything but a reason to celebrate…
"More people doesn’t equal more peace and joy," she says.
"More people means less food, less water, more war, more air and water pollution.
"People can't happily co-exist and surely incidents such as the January 6th insurrection and Brexit have shown us that approximately half of the population do not agree with the other half."
Susan says that her nearest and dearest – including those who have children – are fully aware of how she feels on the sensitive topic.
"My friends who have had children are aware of my views – thankfully none of them have had more than three," she explains.
"But even although my maths is bad, I can work out what happens if those three each have another three etc"
So, what does she think of mum-of-22 Sue Radford who has Britain's biggest brood?
