July 8, 2023A DIY expert has created a way to build a privacy fence in just a day – and his method requires no concrete and no digging holes.
He erected the simple but effective privacy fence to hide his trash cans, and showed viewers how they could do it themselves at home.
Dawson (@dawson.diy) has more than 470,000 followers on TikTok and shares DIY and home renovation content to his page.
His recent video, entitled "DIY trash fence," went viral, and 52,000 people liked his idea.
In the clip, he asked viewers: "Did you know that you can make a fence with absolutely no concrete?
"After getting in trouble from my HOA for having my trash cans visible, I started building this privacy fence and here's how I installed it."
Dawson showed the viewer the step-by-step plan of how he constructed the fence himself.
He said: "I had the city come out and mark where all the utility lines are so I could know where to put my fence.
"Then I bought these really big spikes and drove them into the ground."
He inserted the spikes with a large tool, which he used to drive them firmly into the ground.

He continued: "The fence actually bolts into these spikes and this was way easier for me than having to dig big holes, pour the concrete, wait for it to dry and all of that.
"Once the spikes are in, you just drop the fence down, bolt it in and you are seriously good to go."
With only a few steps and no need to mix or pour concrete or dig holes for fence posts to go in, Dawson's simple method won the day.
He stated: "I think this is such an easy way to get a fence up in a day and I love the way that it turned out."
TikTokers loved the video, with many commenters expressing support for the building method.
One wrote: "It looks GREAT!!!! And the spike idea—perfect," while another two commenters said: "Looks gorgeous," and "Love the color combo."
