Hair expert shares things you should be doing but definitely aren't-including conditioner tip that promises shiny locks
November 7, 2021HAIRCARE FANATIC Monique McDown Rapier has been giving some unusual tips to her 148k followers on TikTok.
Lustrous, moisture-drenched bouncy tresses is what we all want and Monique gives huge emphasis to using microfiber towels to dry wet hair and never a cotton one.
But one bizarre haircare revelation has got her 800k viewers scratching their heads.
Use conditioner before shampoo! So each time you wash your hair use conditioner first all over your hair, then shampoo onlythe top half of hair and then conditioner only on bottom half!
And hr army of fans were quick to express their horror/confusion:
“Conditioner on the scalp causes grease and dandruff build-up and weighs down your hair, leaving you with zero volume!” A viewer pointed to what we are all thinking.
But others commented on how the unusual hair trick actually treated their hair problems:
“Putting conditioner on my scalp was the only thing that treated my dandruff and itchy scalp.”
“I have discovered that conditioning my scalp before shampooing has really helped my hair get rid of toxins and build-up. It really made my hair feel and look healthy and beautiful after!”
And reactions were equally mixed when it came to the haircare whisperer’s advice on what you’re supposed to be doing to your hair every week that you don’t know about.
Always sleep on satin pillows to beat the frizz and hair breakage. Never blow-dry hair above your ear and let your hair air-dry 90 per cent before blow drying the rest.

Monique who regularly posts videos of her epic hair fails such as frizzy or fly-away hair and a dry, itchy scalp wants to hand down her secrets to guaranteed sleek, glossy gorgeous hair such as never using hair straighteners or the blow dryer for static strands of astray hair and using an overnight oil hair-mask weekly.
Removing build-up on scalp with an apple cider vinegar rinse is also recommended, especially if you have naturally oily hair.
Monique’s website lists three essentials for fabulously gloss locks:
Microfiber hair towel- made from a revolutionary material that is extremely soft to the touch, super absorbent and fast drying. The fabric absorbs more than eight times its weight in water. This means that it'll work faster and more efficiently to dry you off, and it'll stay fresh longer because it dries out quickly.
Satin pillow to beat the frizz and hair breakage
Tidal Hair Waver to bounce your tresses into mermaid waves
And finally: don’t buy hair products just because they smell good, never brush wet hair (it’ll cause major breakage), and always check harsh ingredient in products
