Glass skin is the new holy grail for beauty fans… and here’s how you get it

February 2, 2022

KOREAN beauty is known for its emphasis on that 'from-within' glow, and its latest trend is no exception.

'Glass skin' is taking the beauty world by storm, but what exactly is it, and how can we achieve it?

Firstly, glass skin is all about a fresh, dewy complexion with no visible pores or an overly-matte finish.

It mimics the translucence of glass, hence its name, and is called 'mul-gwang' in Korean term, or simply 'water skin' or 'sheer skin'.

Unlike most beauty trends, glass skin doesn't involve much make-up.

In fact, the less make-up you can use to achieve this natural sheen, the better.

The youthful finish comes from a strategic, stringent skincare routine.

The first step is to double cleanse morning and evening – this ensures complete removal of dirt, pollution and make-up.

You don't want anything that will strip your skin of its natural oils, so opt for cleansing balms, oils or gels (as opposed to foams or soaps).

A lightweight moisturiser is essential, and should be warmed up using your fingertips before being rubbed into the skin until totally absorbed.

Moisturising masks and mists will help achieve glass skin, too.
