adidas Originals' 4D Runner adidas Energy Concepts Is a FUTURECRAFT for the Masses

November 23, 2020

adidas Originals is once again experimenting with its 4D sole unit technology, this time around producing the 4D Runner adidas Energy Concepts pair in “Crystal White/Cloud White/Super Pink.”

The pair features a full Primeknit upper which is served in the aforementioned “Crystal White” hue, a shade that gives the futuristic sneaker a clean and techy aesthetic. The “Cloud White” and “Super Pink” colors are used for the Three Stripe branding and fabric heel tab respectively, while the latter shade also finds itself decorating the insole.

Alongside this is the shoe’s signature 4D sole unit, which appears in the now-expected shade of “Aero Green.” It’s made in the way of digital light synthesis — essentially a process that uses light and oxygen-permeable optics to develop a 3D object that can be thermally baked to create a solid structure. The result is something that’s strong and durable yet incredibly comfortable, supporting the foot with every step.

This model is incredibly similar to the adidas FUTURECRAFT 4D — and for what it’s worth, one big difference between the two is the price point. When the FUTURECRAFT model released, price points for collaborative or Consortium-designed pairs averaged at around $400 USD to $500 USD. This 4D Runner adidas Energy Concepts sneaker, on the other hand, comes in at a much more swallowable $360 AUD (approx. $264 USD).

Take a look at the adidas Originals 4D Runner adidas Energy Concepts sneaker in “Crystal White/Cloud White/Super Pink” above, and pick up a pair for yourself from adidas’ Australia-based website on November 27. A wider global release is to be expected.
