3sixteen Finishes the Year Strong With Annual Schott NYC Leather JacketDecember 21, 2020
As the year wraps up, 3sixteen has partnered with Schott NYC to produce their fifth annual collaborative leather jacket.
Mostly recognized as a denim company inspired by Japanese craftsmanship, 3sixteen continues to bring their artistry to the Perfecto leather jacket. The collaboration combines Schott’s classic war-time American apparel heritage and fine motorcycle garment expertise with 3sixteen’s minimalistic design to produce this exclusive contemporary double rider with custom tannage.
This year, the brand has opted for a waxy pebbled black steerhide, a more texturized yet softer material to its vintage brown counterpart. Although more flexible, the jacket is still able to maintain its shape and weight. The slight shine on the matte black colorway adds to the character of the jacket, modernizing the long-established James Dean-esque biker persona.
With subtle details on the outside, the inside of the jacket is lined with a rayon leopard-printed liner fabric, exclusively woven in Japan, along with a mixed hardware treatment, a creative decision made to honor Schott’s archive of mixed hardware wartime jacket. The jacket’s front and sleeve zips are emphasized with a bright nickel finish in comparison to the all matte black hand pocket zippers and collar snaps.
Each jacket is hand-crafted, -cut and -sewn by Schott and are limited to only 50 pieces. Priced at $950 USD, the jackets are available online at 3sixteen, as well as at their N.Y. and L.A. flagship stores.
