Vinny and Pauly D Eat Dried Scorpion and Talk Steroids on 'Jersey Shore'

Vinny Guadagnino and DJ Pauly D are pretty adventurous guys. As stars of Jersey Shore and now Double Shot at Love, there’s clearly not much they’re not willing to do. But sauerkraut juice and something called noni juice, well… those are just a step too far.

This is the third episode of “Disgustingly Healthy,” Men’s Health‘s video series where some of your favorite stars are put to the test: try some uber-healthy and maybe not-so-appetizing snacks, or answer the juicy questions.

One juice-y question that the guys faced this week: Did anyone on the cast of Jersey Shore use steroids?

“Define steroids,” Pauly D said, laughing. “I mean, did anyone on the cast of Jersey Shore not use steroids? That’s the question.”

“In Jersey, when you go to the beach, they inject you,” Pauly continued, with a grin on his face.

Vinny was a little more reserved in his response, though he was quick to throw suspicion onto another castmate. “Well, I didn’t. I can’t speak for anyone else,” he said. “Ronnie did look a little suspect one season, though.”

Pauly D, who appeared on Fear Factor in the past, likened his Disgustingly Healthy run to the hit experiential show. He was just getting started, really, as eventually he’d be putting a dried scorpion into his mouth, saying that it tastes “ant-y. Like ants.”

At the end of the day, the guys made their way through a series of snacks, and had no choice but to reflect on their experience. Vinny was OK with the cayenne pepper worm bites, even dropping a classic Dumb and Dumber reference in his review (“One day I want to open a pet store called “We got worms!” he said), but really didn’t care for the shitake mushroom jerky.

Pauly, meanwhile, did not enjoy his run in with Mr. Scorpion, giving that the distinction of worst thing he had to try. The vegan jerky that he threw down the gullet, though? Not too bad.
