TV legend to join This Morning as ITV bosses aim to give show ‘fresh new look’

TV legend Steve Jones is set to be the latest star to be joining the This Morning presenting team, with ITV bosses reportedly “delighted” about the new signing.

The Welsh presenter, who first shot to fame on Channel 4’s T4 alongside Miquita Oliver, is the latest showbiz name to be joining the ITV team, with Steve set to present alongside co-host Josie Gibson on Wednesdays.

According to sources at the network, ITV bosses are “thrilled” about the new addition to the team, which comes as part of an ongoing shakeup following the departure of Phillip Schofield back in May.

There are even reports that if Steve proves a hit with fans he could become a permanent fixture to the show alongside the established presenting team of Holly Willoughby, Josie, Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary and Craig Doyle.

A source told the MailOnline: "The hope is that those watching at home will love Steve, he's a very experienced broadcaster but also very cheeky. There is no permanent replacement for Phil, Holly will be presenting with Alison, Josie, Dermot and Craig, and now probably Steve.

"Hopefully he will be part of the new dawn for This Morning after the Schofield scandal, and will help to give it a fresh new look.”

OK! have reached out to ITV for comment.

The 46 year old currently works for Channel 4 providing regular Formula 1 coverage, and even previously turned his hand to presenting stateside after Simon Cowell personally asked him to host the X factor USA.

Since Phillip Schofield’s departure earlier this year after admitting to an affair with a younger colleague, speculation has been rife about who would present in his place.

However ITV bosses later confirmed that they had no plans to fill his presenting role with just one person, instead opting for a team of presenters to alternate alongside front woman Holly.

A source shared toBellamagazine: "The idea of finding the next Phil to sit next to Holly has been disregarded by This Morning's bosses. It will essentially be Holly's show. It will be Holly along with whichever rotating presenter is selected to join her.

"Bosses hope that they can put all of the Schofield scandal behind them and start concentrating on the content of the show rather than the twosome presenting."
