Katy Rickitt, 37, who is married to former Coronation Street star Adam Rickitt, 42, has taken to Instagram to share a goodbye message. The news correspondent announced she will temporarily be stepping down from her regular duties on Good Morning Britain as she takes on a new role.

The presenter revealed last week that she will be switching over to ITV Calendar as one of the show’s main anchors.

Taking to the picture-sharing site, Katy shared a candid video alongside her work colleagues.

She began: “Good morning. As it is my last morning on GMB for a while I thought I’d introduce you to my work family.”

Panning the camera towards her colleagues behind the camera, Katy went on: “This is Geoff. My work dad.

“And this is Pete, my work brother. These are the guys I’ve spent most of my time with over the last decade.

“We’re always haring around at the crack of dawn and today we’ve all been up super early because we’ve come to Middlesbrough which is about two and half hours away.” (sic)

She added: “My alarm went off at 1.30am because I bothered to do my face.”

Katy admitted that she would miss her work colleagues as she departs GMB for the rest of this year.

The GMB presenter said: “I’m really going to miss you guys when I go over to calander next week. I’m trying not to cry. (sic)

“I’ll be working with Duncan Wood. He was on GMTV back in the day so we’re going to be sharing lots and lots of stories about that. I’m really looking forward to working with my telly husband.”

She added: “I’ll be going down to next week to do some prep and will officially be on the small-screen with the wonderful team at calendar.”

Katy accompanied the post with a candid message, saying: “Last early of 2021!

Her GMB co-star Laura Tobin replied: “Ah, those boys. What will they do without you? What will we do without you? Good luck and have fun.”

Viewers also offered their well wishes, as one penned: “Good luck!”

Another commented: “Good luck Katie with your new job. Going to miss you on GMB have a lovely weekend and enjoy the lie-ins.”

“I bet you’ve had some right laughs with your crew Katy, you’ll miss them,” another remarked.

While a fourth added: “Yorkshire will welcome you with open arms, can’t wait to see you at calendar.”

Katy is a news correspondent for GMB and has worked for ITV since 2008.

However, her new role will mean she’ll be taking a break from the early morning show.
