TOWIE’s Pete Wicks says it’s ‘nice to see’ BFF James Lock back to his old self after Yazmin Oukhellou split

The Only Way Is Essex star Pete Wicks has shared his joy on getting his bestie James Lock "back" after his and Yazmin Oukhellou’s breakup.

Cheeky chap Pete, 31, opened up about supporting his TOWIE bestie James, 32, go through the end of his relationship with Yazmin and and revealed it was “harder” to see him in the relationship than go through the split itself.

Pete shared his words of wisdom with OK! online during a chat about his latest project, which saw him team up with rum brand Captain Morgan to create a spoof aftershave ad for the new limited edition Gingerbread Spiced Rum.

He told us: “It's nice to have him back, not just with the single life but just back to being Lockie.

“I think they were both quite unhappy for some time and I think both of them needed to get out of that relationship because it wasn't going particularly well.

“I think sometimes you hang onto things longer than you probably should so he seems really happy at the minute, he's doing really well, he's enjoying being single and hopefully Yaz will be happy when she decides she wants to be.”

When asked if it was hard to see his bestie Lockie go through the breakup with Yazmin, Pete said: “It's always hard to see your mates go through break ups.

“It was actually harder for me to see him in the relationship than it was to see him go through the break up because they both became different people and that's not nice to see.

“It's actually quite nice to see him go back to being the guy that he was before. So rather than being hard it's actually been more a good [thing].”

The TOWIE star also said he thinks Lockie should “stay single for a little while” and added: “I think we're at an age now where we should both probably start thinking about settling down but there's no point settling down if you're settling down in a relationship that isn't the right one.

“So there's nothing wrong with being single over 30!”

This comes after James is said to have signed up for dating show Celebs Go Dating, in a bid to move on from his ex Yazmin.

A source told the MailOnline: “James hasn't had the best experience with dating.

“He's found it difficult to cut ties with Yazmin in recent months but has also been playing the field, which hasn't given him the time to heal.

“As a family man he's made no secret of wanting to settle down and hopes to one day meet the girl next door.

“Bosses believe he's the perfect celebrity to take part as he wants to meet someone new but is struggling to find the right fit on his own.”

Meanwhile Yazmin is reported to be moving on herself, by dating Absolutely Ascot’s Alfie best Junior.

A source told The Sun Online: “Yaz is treading carefully after her last relationship imploded.

“But she's ready to move on and seems to really like Alfie. It's early days but it could turn into something really special.”

Captain Morgan’s Gingerbread Spiced Rum is available in Asda stores and Green King pubs now.
