Former This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has opened up about 2021 as he prepares to mark the New Year. The broadcaster admitted how much of the year had seen health at the forefront of his and other people’s minds as he hoped for a better 2022.
Eamonn, who will soon be fronting a new breakfast programme for GB News, shared the message with his fans earlier today.
He posted a selfie of him surrounded by graffiti in a suit to his one million followers.
Alongside this, he penned: “My Dear Followers Happy New Year and really thankful and appreciative for your support over the past 12 months.
“It’s been a tough one for most of us, in lots of different ways I’m sure.
“But Health has been our concern and wealth.
“May you stay well into 2022.”
Eamonn has faced some health issues of his own this year following a chronic injury.
He suffered a slipped disc earlier in the year, which left him with back and leg issues.
However, he’s been sharing plenty of updates throughout his recovery, admitting things were getting better.
Many of his followers responded to his latest message, with kind wishes of their own to mark the new year.
Councillor Carole Howard wrote: “Happy New Year to you!
“New adventures & challenges ahead for us both! Good health & many blessings.”
Fabricgirl added: “A Happy New Year to you and your family too Eamonn.
“Hoping your life has less pain this year.”
Gertom replied: “Happy New Year to you and Ruth, let’s hope there is better times ahead.”
Eamonn is about to start a new job as he joins GB News on January 4.
He’ll be fronting a new breakfast show with Isabel Webster every Monday to Friday from 6am to 9.30am on the channel.
In a preview video for this, Isabel said: “Lots of people have preconceived ideas about what GB News is all about.
“And really, we just want people to tune in so they can see for themselves we’re about giving a voice to all opinions and to having a civilised debate.”
Eamonn added: “Respectful debate as well, so we do want to hear from you.
“The news is different every day, and so will we be.”
