Fans couldn't hide their disappointment after realising that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are presenting their final week of This Morning before a new line-up of hosts comes into effect.

Eamonn and Ruth have been filling in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield while they enjoy some time off during the summer.

But the husband and wife pair are soon set to be replaced by guest presenter Rochelle Humes and Vernon Kay before double act Holly and Phil return.

Former The Saturdays singer Rochelle and Family Fortunes presenter Vernon are scheduled to present the show until Thursday, September 2nd.

Viewers of This Morning appeared to be devastated at Eamonn and Ruth's last few days on the ITV talk show.

One person tweeted: "Can't believe it's the last week of summer this morning @thismorning really enjoyed watching Eamonn and Ruth."

Another added that the pair's departure may mean a dip in ratings, tweeting: "Not just Eamonn and Ruth's last week of #thismorning, probably a lot of viewers too."

Ruth and Eamonn's last week on the show was confirmed on Friday's episode of This Morning.

Speaking to viewers at home, Eamonn said: "Thank you very much indeed, everybody. Thanks for watching today.

"Thanks for watching all this week. We're back Monday to do it all again, it's our last week, so I hope you can join us."

Meanwhile, speaking of his upcoming hosting gig on the show, Vernon said he was: "This Morning is the daytime go-to show, so to be asked to guest host on a show I've watched since its inception is a huge tick for me.

"I'm really looking forward to working with Rochelle and sitting on that famous sofa."
