The 1 Reason Why Gwyneth Paltrow May Be an Underrated CelebrityNovember 7, 2019
There are a lot of celebrities who seem to get a hard time from critics, and foremost among these is Gwyneth Paltrow.
The actress rose to fame in the nineties, earning accolades for her performances in films like Shakespeare in Love, and becoming one of the biggest names in Hollywood. However, a few years ago, Paltrow decided to focus her efforts on her lifestyle brand, Goop, rather than her work in films.
The result has been undoubtedly profitable for Paltrow, although it has opened her up to a firestorm of criticism. Still, it is possible that Paltrow is more relatable than previously believed. Read on to learn why many don’t like Gwyneth Paltrow, the problems she has faced with goop, and the reason why she might actually be underrated.
Many believe that Gwyneth Paltrow is entitled
A lot of people have spoken out against Gwyneth Paltrow for the way that she unabashedly lives her privileged lifestyle. Paltrow regularly posts her favorite things on social media, luxuries that would cost ordinary people thousands of dollars, but Paltrow simply refers to them as “must-haves.”
For many, this is a sign that Paltrow is out of touch with regular people and definitely means that she shouldn’t be promoting herself as a lifestyle guru.
In addition to her high-dollar accessories and outfits, there are many who feel that Paltrow is, quite simply, too full of herself. She has no problem singing her own praises, whether she is talking about how great her body is or how she’s convinced that she never had any additional advantages in life (despite the fact that both of her parents were successful in the entertainment industry).
‘Goop’ has faced some serious issues
Gwyneth Paltrow first launched goop in 2008 as a newsletter. Eventually, it grew into a massive website empire, touting products, recipes, and lifestyle choices all curated by Paltrow herself.
While there are undoubtedly thousands of people who love goop and fully buy into the philosophy, the website has encountered a number of issues over the years. For one thing, the price point of most of the products makes them unattainable for the vast majority of subscribers — many of the product picks are in the hundreds of dollars, with many of the suggested gifts in the yearly gift guide well into the thousands.
Goop has also featured what many have referred to as “fake science.” The site has referred to some “alternative studies” in promoting the benefits of various products, and some health professionals have spoken out against these studies, claiming that following goop‘s advice would be dangerous and unwise.
Gwyneth Paltrow has fun on Instagram
Granted, there are a lot of reasons why people find Gwyneth Paltrow problematic. But perhaps, beneath the surface, Paltrow is just an ordinary mom trying to do what she thinks is best — and with a healthy dose of good humor.
Over the past few months, Paltrow has cultivated a following of fans who monitor her on Instagram. Paltrow has developed a habit of commenting on meme accounts’ posts, and her comments are frequently hilarious and often very relatable.
An example of Paltrow’s clever Instagram comments — a meme account posted a collage of Brad Pitt, pictured with various girlfriends over the years, with the caption, “Brad: the man who likes to look like his girlfriend.”
Paltrow, who famously dated Brad Pitt, commented, “or we like to look like him, let’s face it.” When someone called out the Paltrow comments as fake, claiming that she hired a Goop intern to write them, Paltrow actually responded, saying that she writes all the “dumb stuff” herself while in the bath with a glass of wine.
Clearly, Paltrow has more of a sense of humor than previously believed!
