Susanna Reid sizzles in festive red dress as she hosts GMB
Susanna Reid hit the big 50 in December, but revealed that she spent most of the day in tears. Not to worry though, they were tears of joy from all the love and generosity her family sent her throughout the course of the day.
I spent a lot of it in tears of joy, to be honest
In a recent interview, the Good Morning Britain star recalled feeling “overwhelmed”, especially as 2020 brought so many challenges for us all.
After her stint on the ITV flagship program in the morning, proper celebrations were put on hold until such a date that will bring with it a glimmer of normality.
Instead, Susanna spent the day “very quietly”.
“I spent a lot of it in tears of joy, to be honest,” she quipped.

“My brother made a video of my mum, dad and various members of my family. I felt really moved by that.
“And a friend put together some images of me and the children over the years.”
The touching sentiments sent Susanna over the edge, and she also managed to see her mum briefly when she handed her her gift.
“My mum put together the most beautiful book of photographs of us and the stories to go with them, right from the moment I came into the world 50 years ago,” the presenter smiled.
“I did pop out to Mum’s allotment, masked-up and at a social distance.
“Then to come home and be quiet, it was lovely.”
She revealed her eldest son Sam, 18, bought her a university sweatshirt and a Finn, 16, and 15-year-old Jack, gifted her with a “cool pair of Converse”.
“My sons are great boys, they made my birthday the best ever,” she told You Magazine.

“I always decorate the kitchen for their birthdays. I’ll put up decorations, glitter all over the table with the presents so it’s like a little birthday explosion for them.
“So the night before my birthday I could hear them downstairs giggling. My middle son came upstairs and said, ‘Mum, if you could have the perfect breakfast, what would it be?'”
Susanna grinned as she told the publication her go-to brekkie would be avocado and smoked salmon.
“I thought, ‘We’ve definitely got those in!'” she laughed.
“I heard the giggles again downstairs. They had to find the food. They told me I wasn’t allowed to come downstairs.
I started getting snaps of the inside of the fridge on my phone and messages, ‘Mum, if I was craving an avocado right now, where would I find it?’
“When you’ve tried to make every birthday special for them and now they want to do it for you, there’s something magical about that.”
Good Morning Britian airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
