Shop the £29 lipstick that Kate Middleton can’t live without
July 29, 2023It’s officially National Lipstick Day, where we celebrate all things lip-related and reflect fondly on the power that a bold lip can give you.
Whether you’re a nudes only kinda person or you never leave the house without a strong swipe of red, there’s no denying that lipstick completes your beauty look.
The royal family is notoriously particular about certain beauty elements like nail varnish colours, but as it turns out, when it comes to lipstick shades they’re surprisingly relaxed.
Various members of the Royals have been spotted in everything from shocking red to neutral nudes during their public appearances, making it one of their go-to ways of expressing themselves.
Although she has been spotted with a scarlet lip before, Kate Middleton typically prefers to stick to the classics, choosing a soft, neutral shade to complement her natural-looking makeup.
Just like her natural, bare nails, The Princess of Wales favours a barely-there look, and hardly ever leaves the house without her trusty tube of Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Sandwash Pink, £29 here.
The creamy semi-matte lipstick gives full-coverage colour with a polished finish – perfect for a princess. With the subtle hint of pink giving the nude lipstick a soft, feminine finish, it’s the ideal shade for Kate to add a delicate pop of colour to her signature natural makeup.
Unlike most matte lipsticks, it doesn’t dry down on your lips and instead leaves them feeling soft and hydrated all day, so you don’t constantly feel like you need to touch them up or add moisture to them.
The Princess of Wales loves the shade so much that she even wore it for her wedding to Prince William, although she’s said to have updated the look with a swipe of Bobbi Brown Sheer Colour Lipgloss over the top.
Although her chosen lipgloss from the brand is currently out of stock, the Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss, £25 here, is a good alternative for adding a non-sticky, hydrating shine to your lips.
Kate isn’t the only Royal who prefers a nude lip, with Meghan Markle also opting for beige and brown-toned shades for her lipstick of choice.
For Meghan, she’s said to choose Charlotte Tilbury’s Matte Revolution in shade Very Victoria, £27 here, for her go-to lip colour, although for her wedding day, she wore the Honest Beauty Lip Crayon-Lush Sheer in shade Chestnut, £16 here, with Dior Lip Glow in Coral, £25.07 here (Was £29.50), layered over the top for a unique pink-toned nude.
We don’t know about you, but we reckon there’s no better way to celebrate National Lipstick Day than with a lip colour that has a royal seal of approval.
