Saira Khan has hit out at the racist and sexist trolls who accused her of being a bad Muslim on Instagram.

The former Loose Women panellist shared the horrible comment she received from a troll, who told her to “change her ways” as they said she was “an example of how not to be a Muslim”.

Saira confessed on any other day she would block and delete the abuse, but she said she wanted to show her fans what she has to deal with on a regular basis.

“Welcome to my world. Normally I would just block and delete this,” she began to say.

“But actually I wanted to share it to show you that not only do I get sexism, racism I also get abuse for wanting to live my life how I wish.”

Saira explained to her followers: “I’m not a practising Muslim and that’s what society can’t handle. Hold on, her name suggests she’s a Muslim, but she doesn’t act like one.

“Because I can’t be put into a “silo” of what a woman of my skin colour and heritage is supposed to look and behave like , I’m seen as a threat to their narrow view of the world.”

The presenter went on to add that she will go on to live her life how she wants to, stating: “The fact of the matter is, the more I get this hate, the more I know what I stand for is working.

“It rattles them and that gives me the strength to go out there and live my life with no rules, boundaries, restrictions – just values, a good moral compass and my dial always on freedom, liberty and happiness.”

Lizzie Cundy also commented: “So sorry my darling .What a sad person. You are the most incredible person and keep doing what you are doing!”

While Saira has now limited the comments on her post, many fans went on to share their thoughts with one writing: “Vile, vile vile!!! I love your posts and religion does not even enter my head.

“I see a woman who is inspirational, to me and many others I positive of that. Keep going as you are, chin up.”
