Piers Morgan caused a divide on Twitter after the journalist said he wasn’t the biggest fan of the hit sitcom Friends. The ex-Good Morning Britain presenter reacted to his son, Spencer Morgan who blasted critics of the show.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, the 56-year-old took the opportunity to share his thoughts ahead of Friends: The Reunion special.

Piers retweeted his son’s post who urged critics to have a “day off” if they believed they were too “clever” for the series.

Spencer penned: “Reminder that no one cares that you think you’re too clever to like Friends. Have a day off #FriendsReunion.”

Taking issue with his son’s tweet, Piers reposted the message as he took aim at the US sitcom.

Piers wrote: “Friends isn’t funny. Never has been, never will be. Most overrated show in TV history.”

His comments sparked a huge reaction on the micro-blogging site, as social media users reacted to his swipe.

One fumed: “Piers no. I can’t agree with you on this one. Friends is one of the best and funniest shows ever.”

Another remarked: “I usually agree with what you say but you have this so wrong! Friends is the best sitcom of all time!”

“It’s like your intent on losing followers (sic),” another quipped.

While a fourth added: “Friends is, and always will be, legendary. An all-time classic.”

However, some social media users appeared to agree with the broadcaster.

“Agreed. Never watched it,” one commented, while another added: “I’m with Piers on this one.”
