After he hit out against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle following their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, Piers Morgan has claimed he has been sent messages of "gratitude" by Royal family members.
The presenter, who called Alex Beresford a 'stand in weather guy', claimed he received messages on behalf of the Royal family for "standing up" against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
During his own tell-all interview on US TV show Extra, the 56 year old discussed the ongoing criticism after his outspoken views on the couple.
He said: "I've had some messages communicated to me on behalf of several members of the royal family."

When asked by host Billy Bush if the communication came from "upper level people", Piers refused to comment.
The dad-of-four added: "I'm not going to go into who it was. But what I would say is, gratitude that somebody was standing up."
Piers also categorically denied he is a racist and explained why he's been critical over Harry and Meghan.
"I'm not racist. Nothing I've ever said about Meghan Markle is either racist or racially motivated," he expressed.

"I've been very critical of Prince Harry and last time I checked he was white and so I find this narrative deeply offensive."
Billy quizzed Piers on what he would say to Meghan, 39, if he was given the chance to speak with her.
He responded: "I would say to Meghan Markle, 'Look, sit down with me, with your husband for an equally long interview and let me ask you more difficult questions about all your claims.
"But let me ask you a wider question, which is this: 'If you hate the royal family that much, why do you keep your royal titles? Why do you keep calling yourselves the Duke and Duchess of Sussex'".

Piers, who had a booze-fuelled lockdown birthday BBQ, continued: "Why would you do that if it's just not to make millions and millions of dollars? And playing the victim as you do is frankly nauseating."
The journalist quit Good Morning Britain following an on-air row with co-host Alex Beresford, which resulted in him storming off the set.
