Molly-Mae Hague says the only rows she’s had with Tommy ‘are to do with him drinking’

June 9, 2022

Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has opened up about alcohol being the only initiator of arguments between she and boxer boyfriend Tommy Fury.

Speaking in her brand new autobiography, Becoming Molly-Mae, the 23 year old social media influencer described herself as "not a social butterfly", before explaining how her anxiety around alcohol had developed.

Explaining why a night out drinking has never been her favourite way to spend time with friends, Molly-Mae disclosed: "I’m not really into going for dinners and drinks and socialising – it’s just not for me.

"When I moved to Manchester, I made myself go out on the weekends to make friends. Looking back at the handful of times I got drunk during that period, I don’t think, 'That night was really great'.

Molly said that she would "wake up the next day with a terrible hangover" and "a lot of regret". She added that being in the public eye has made it worse.

Molly-Mae – who has remained in a relationship with Love Island beau Tommy Fury, also 23, since they appeared on the dating show in 2019 – has now disclosed that alcohol has even had an impact on her love life in recent years.

"The only major arguments Tommy and I have had have been to do with him drinking," she revealed.

"Which he only does a few times a year. He won’t even do anything wrong; I’ll just lose it at him because I hate it.

"I do have this anxiety around alcohol and the things I’ve seen it do to the people around me – I personally don’t think that alcohol adds anything good to a situation.

"In my experience, yes, it might temporarily make you have a better night out, but the next day you’re suffering the repercussions when you have a terrible hangover. Maybe I’ve just never had a good experience with it."

Despite often having been spotted enjoying a night out with friends across bars in his home-city of Manchester, professional boxer Tommy – who is brother to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury – has spoken previously about restricting his alcohol intake in order to remain in suitable shape for a fight.

In November last year however, 33-year-old Tyson urged his younger brother Tommy to go out and have a few drinks as he prepared for his fight with YouTuber Jake Paul

"[Drinking] relaxes you when you're in training camp and it teaches you not to be so strict. It teaches you to relax and enjoy, and that's what it's about," Tyson had said.

Becoming Molly-Mae is out now.
