Mark Labbett, 55, regularly interacts with viewers on Twitter and it was no different after a viewer quizzed him about a recent episode of The Chase. The quizmaster addressed being “mocked” by contestants on the ITV show.

It comes after a viewer shared their disappointment about the contestants “inappropriate behaviour” during an episode of The Chase which aired on Challenge TV yesterday.

The person in question wrote: “This episode of @ITVChase on @ChallengeTV is remembered for all the wrong reasons.

“Winning team behaved completely inappropriately during @MarkLabbett final chase, repeatedly mocking him.”

The viewer spoke about the winning team’s behaviour during the final round of The Chase as the contestants talked during Mark’s round.

However, the quizmaster admitted he was not too bothered by them “mocking” him as he would have done the same in the final round.

Mark penned: “All is fair in the final Chase apart from talking in my time of course. Deserved winners but I would have mocked them royally had I won.”

The social media user replied: “Yeah talking during your question may not be against the actual rules, but it’s certainly against the spirit of the game.”

Meanwhile, repeat episodes of the hit ITV game show have aired over the summer but a new series has since launched at the start of this month.

In a recent Twitter post, Mark shared the trailer to the new series which included brief snippets of Mark, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Anne Hegerty and Shaun Wallace back in the hot seat ready to take on a new batch of contestants.

The quizmaster shared the tweet with the caption: “With apologies to Green Day, Wake me up when September begins :).”

He also teased that new chaser Darragh Ennis will be making an appearance at some point.

Mark wrote: “New chaser to be revealed….sometime :).”

Elsewhere, the TV quizmaster who made his debut in 2009, has separated from his wife Katie Labbett.

Mark and Katie have parted their ways after spending seven years together in an “open marriage”.

A representative for Mark said: “We can confirm Mark and Katie have split but will not be making any further comment.”

“There was never any deceit on Katie’s part but it’s got to the point now where I realise it is better for us to go our separate ways and remain friendly,” Mark added.

Katie, who is believed to have been dating senior design engineer, Scott Bate, 30, for 18 months said: “I just want everyone to know what’s what and that we are all happy.”

Mark previously opened up about his wife in an interview with The Sun, he explained: “When Katie first came clean to me about her boyfriend, I’d had an inkling.”

The Chase star continued: “But right from the start, my attitude was quite pragmatic — this was spilt milk, what could we do about the situation to make it OK?

“We had a family. We couldn’t just throw that away lightly. There were other considerations.”

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
