Amanda Owen, 47, has spoken out about the difficulties last winter posed for her and her family when filming the latest season of Our Yorkshire Farm. The new series returns on Tuesday October 5.
You’ll be seeing how life becomes difficult when winter bites.
The Yorkshire Shepherdess keeps her fans updated continuously with her idyllic rural life on the farm, including the less pleasant parts of her job.
Today, Amanda let her 179,000 followers know what they should expect from the latest series.
She said: “Our Yorkshire Farm returns for a new series on @channel5_tv next week.
“You’ll be seeing how life becomes difficult when winter bites.
“Sub zero temperatures, heavy snowfall & blizzards strike.”
The tweet was accompanied with four pictures, demonstrating the chill she endured on the farm with husband Clive Owen and their nine children.
Harsh winters hit Yorkshire at the time, with miles of thick snow shown.
One image also shows two of her children standing next to icicles, which were nearly the same height as them.
Fans of the show were quick to praise Amanda and her family for the work they do.
Bettypittmann55 said: “Your books are telling the realities of winters where you are & what you have to do to keep family and livestock alive & well.
“I have so much respect & admiration for you, your husband & those precious kids since reading your stories. Thank you.”
Haggironi added: “Brilliant, looking forward to in the colder darker months, being transported into your world, being educated & seeing exactly how hard, fun, exciting & I’m sure frustrating life can be. Thank you.”
Amanda lives on Ravenseat Farm, in Swaledale with her husband Clive and their brood.
The latest series will kick off as the farm buckles down for the second coronavirus lockdown, which took place last winter.
The shepherdess took to Twitter yesterday to show fans the first look trailer for the series.
In this series, there will be a closer look at the family’s struggles, and the tough tasks they have to handle in the bitter cold.
The latest trailer teases “new adventures, new beginnings and new surprises” in series 5.
If the pictures are anything to go by, there will be plenty of new challenges for the family.
In the trailer, Amanda confirmed she had been homeschooling her children as the pandemic continued in 2021.
The trailer also shows the difficult weather conditions the family faced and the new equipment they had to handle the challenges of winter.
Our Yorkshire Farm returns to our screens on Channel 5 on Tuesday October 5.
