Karl Lagerfed’s heartbroken cat Choupette goes into mourning

Karl Lagerfeld ‘s "heartbroken" pet cat Choupette has gone into mourning for her fashion designer "daddy".

The Chanel boss passed away this week at the age of 85, and he’s survived by his beloved cuddly companion.

Choupette, who has her own Instagram account and earned millions from her modelling contracts, is grieving for the star in her own way.

A representative for Choupette told Mirror Online: "At such a young age (and being a cat) that [grief] is challenging.

"Karl Lagerfeld is and will always be her ‘Daddy’.

"She is choosing to put her best paw forward and hopes that her loyal fans and followers will continue with their outpouring of love to help ease the pain."

A picture of Choupette wearing a black veil was posted on her Instagram page with a message thanking fans for supporting the pampered puss during this dark time.

It read: "Thank you everyone for your words of condolence.

" With a once cold but now simply broken heart, I am going into mourning.

"I pray that your kind words and well-wishes will help me to put my best paw forward in my future without Daddy @KarlLagerfeld & as my own woman. "

However, Choupette may be cheered by reports that she could be set to inherit Lagerfeld’s fortune.

Last year, the designer said his furry friend would receive a share of his wealth when he died.

He lavished her with gifts, including an iPad and regular shopping sprees, and she had two personal maids to tend her her every need.

The fashion designer was devoted to her and she even ate her dinner from pricey Goyard china next to him at meal times.

He previously said of his high-maintenance pet: "She hates other animals and she hates children.

"She stays always with me and she has two personal maids.

"They play with her, they have to take care of her beautiful white hair, the beauty treatments for her eyes, and they entertain her.

"She is the centre of the world. If you saw her, you would understand.”

Likening her to Hollywood scree siren Greta Garbo, he continued, “There is something unforgettable about her, the way she moves, the way she plays. She’s an inspiration for elegance. For attitude.”
