John Krasinski Is Just as Great as He Seems, Say His 'Jack Ryan' Co-StarsOctober 6, 2019
Fans of Tom Clancy’s most famous creation were treated to the world premiere of the long-awaited second season of Amazon Prime series Jack Ryan at New York Comic-Con this weekend. John Krasinski returns as the title character, a former Marine and CIA analyst who this time around finds himself battling conspiracies and corruption in South America.
Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Michael Kelly (House of Cards) joined the cast of Jack Ryan for season two, and they both admitted in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that they were both already huge fans of Krasinski, and in fact he was the main reason they both signed up for the show. Rapace even went so far as to say she’d agree to any project that involved Krasinski.
“I watched A Quiet Place maybe a few months before I got the call, and it was like ‘John is in London, he wants to meet you for Jack Ryan season two, and I was like ‘OK!'” Said Rapace. “And I stepped in, and straight away, I think we just connected… and I was like ‘I’d do anything with him.'”
In the show, Rapace plays a German intelligence operative named Harry. “She’s a complex woman, you don’t really know much about her, she’s pretty good at games,” she said. “You don’t really know where you have her, which I love. She has her own agenda.”
Kelly already knew Krasinski, having worked with his wife Emily Blunt on 2011’s The Adjustment Bureau. After hanging out with the two of them, he jumped at the chance to do so again, and immediately accepted the role of CIA field officer Mike November. “I had met John when I did a film with Emily years back, and at the kickoff party I played darts with him, with both of them. I really love those guys,” he said. “They called about this job and sent me the pilot of the first season, and I watched the pilot and was like, ‘Oh my god, yeah, totally. I’m totally in.'”
Season 2 of Jack Ryan is released on Amazon Prime on November 1.
