James Bond actor dead: Sir Sean Connery dies aged 90

James Bond actor Sir Sean Connery has died aged 90.

The news was confirmed by Sean’s family, the BBC reports.

According to the publication, the actor dies in his sleep while in the Bahamas and it is understood he has been unwell for some time.

The Scottish actor was best known for his portrayal of James Bond, as he was the first to bring the role to the big screen.

Sean’s acting career saw him win an Oscar, two BAFTAs and three Golden Globe awards.

Tributes to the James Bond actor have already poured in on Twitter.

Lorraine Kelly wrote: “Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any s***tier the sad news that Sean Connery has died. RIP – best ever Bond.”

Top Gear star Chris Harris added: “Sean Connery RIP. 2020 really is a bad one.”


Meanwhile former Love Island star Chris Hughes said: “Sean Connery was one of the best. Sad news, s**t year. Rest peaceful” followed by a black heart emoji.

Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan added: “RIP Sir Sean Connery, 90. The first James Bond. The best James Bond. What sad news.”

As well as his leading role in seven James Bond movies, Sean also starred in a number of other flicks including Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Thunderball and The Rock.

He was also knighted by the Queen in 200 for his services to film and drama.

Sean leaves behind wife Moroccan-French painter Micheline Roquebrune, whom he married in 1975.

Thea actor also leaves behind a son, Jason, who he shared with ex wife Diane Cilento.
