‘Gooseberry’ Jesy Nelson snubs BRITs after-party as Little Mix stars couple upFebruary 21, 2019
On an emotional night in which Little Mix won a BRIT Award for Best Video, three of the band headed out for a cosy night at the after-parties with their boyfriends, leaving singleton Jesy Nelson to head home alone.
The 27-year-old singer had been labelled a ‘gooseberry’ on the red carpet, after she was left to walk alone, which her bandmates opted to join their partners ahead of the ceremony at the O2 in London.
So it was no surprise when she decided to call it a day and give the after-parties a swerve, leaving the remainder of Little Mix to enjoy the Sony Music BRITs After Party at The Aqua Shard in their couples.
The triple date was possibly too much to tag along with, and while Jesy looked for the peace and quiet of home, Jade Thirwell headed out with beau Jed Elliott.
Leigh-Anne Pinnock was joined by her boyfriend of two years, footballer Andre Gray, while Perrie Edwards was once again stepping out with Liverpool star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
In their third outfit changes of the night, the ‘Women Like Me’ singers were every bit as eye-catching as they were on stage and the red carpet, at the start of the night.
Perrie, 25, left little to the imagination with a plunging neckline metallic green blazer-style dress, while Jade wore a black fringed mini-dress.
Leigh-Anne completed the girl group’s style with a sequined blazer-style dress that sparkled in the photographers’ flash bulbs.
Earlier in the evening, the girls gushed about how they were champions for female empowerment, while speaking to Mirror Online from the red carpet.
They said: "Now more than ever women are coming forwrd in the music industry. It is the time that lots of female artists are really becoming massive.
"We’re always stronger when we are together. That’s always been our line."
It was ironic that just minutes later, Perrie, Jade and Leigh-Anne ironically left single Jesy Nelson to pose alone as they cuddled up to their boyfriends instead.
Recalling the awkward moment, an onlooker told Mirror Online: "They talked about female empowerment then all walked with their boys leaving Jesy to walk by herself".
