Ferne McCann’s wedding u-turn as she swaps big day for ‘intimate’ ceremony

March 6, 2023

After six months of dating Ferne McCann got engaged to Lorri Haines in July last year when he popped the question in a stunning proposal.

The star, who has exclusively announced her pregnancy news with OK!, is now thinking ahead to the wedding and has completely changed her plans when it comes to the day – swapping a big wedding for an intimate affair.

“I’ve now got the mindset where I’m just looking forward to getting married," she said.

"Our wedding plans have changed. I wanted this big wedding with all my friends and family and now we just want it really exclusive, but really intimate.”

In the meantime, Ferne and Lorri have exciting times ahead of them, as they prepare to welcome their first baby together this summer.

Former TOWIE star Ferne, who is already a mum to five year old daughter Sunday, told of the moment she found out the exciting news.

The 32 year old said: “I just sat on the toilet with the door open and was like, ‘I knew it! It’s positive!’ It wasn’t this romantic, tears-streaming-down-my-face thing. We were so happy.

"It wasn’t planned, but it wasn’t not planned. For us both being parents, they’re little miracles and it was such a positive moment and something to look forward to for us.”

“I was over the moon – I couldn’t believe it!” Lorri added. “I was like, ‘Give me the stick,’ and then I went and got another one. We jumped around in the hallway.”

The couple are now preparing for their new arrival, including crafting their birth plan. Ferne revealed she would "love a home birth" because she said she's been told many times she's the "perfect candidate."

“I had a smooth and lovely birth with Sunday and I did the majority of my labour at my mum’s house," she recalled.

"It was just the delivery that I did at the hospital. I would love to have the pool, but Lorri’s worried about the mess.”

“I just like to know if something goes wrong, there’s specialists to deal with it,” he explained.

She clarified: “What’s difficult is we both have children separately and we feel like we’re both experts. So, to try and blend our ideas is taking some time, but we’ll get there and I will have my home birth.”

The couple won't be finding out the gender during pregnancy, but she told us she's hoping it will be a baby girl.

“I would love a girl, just because I’ve got my girl’s name and I feel like a girl mum because I’ve got Sunday," she said. "I can only see myself with girls.”

The new series of Ferne McCann: First Time Mum is available on ITVBe and ITVX on 15 March at 9pm
