Erin Foster defends joke about having wedding before coronavirus despite criticismApril 14, 2020
Run, it’s the bridezillas!
Erin Foster was bashed online after she expressed relief over having had her wedding to Simon Tikhman months before the coronavirus crisis.
“Not to brag, but what a time to have already had your wedding,” she captioned a photo of herself and Tikhman at the altar during their New Year’s Eve nuptials in Nashville.
Many people thought the post was in poor taste.
One user slammed Foster, 37, saying her comment was “completely idiotic during this time when so many have lost so much.”
The writer, who is the daughter of renowned producer David Foster, said her post has “nothing to do with something lost.”
Another follower explained that “a lot of money for these people is potentially lost” for brides who had to postpone their wedding because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“When you have to worry about finances it’s scary not dramatic,” the user added. “Plus you were really into your wedding and excited so why should it be hard to understand these ladies are to (sic). Maybe they have people coming into town that won’t be able to at a different time. You wrote that post so basically your (sic) saying how happy you are that it didn’t happen to you.”
Foster doubled down when another follower asked if she thought her post was “cruel.”
“The post is still up for a reason. I stand by it,” she said. “There is zero harm in it. My wedding has nothing to do with dramatic girls having tantrums about their weddings.”
Her sister, Sara Foster, also defended her, saying, “Influencers and celebrities posting tone deaf bikini shots all day Long , but god forbid a comedian make a joke about her wedding and watch out.”
Another follower pointed out the Internet’s hypocrisy because a meme that said “what a time to be childless” went viral.
“Funny cause people really liked that one,” Foster agreed. “Maybe they take their weddings more seriously than having children? Seems backwards.”
Stassi Schroeder, whose October wedding in Italy is still on, did not take offense to Foster’s joke.
“Preach,” the “Vanderpump Rules” star commented.
Katy Perry, who reportedly did postpone her wedding to Orlando Bloom in Japan, was jokingly miffed and wrote that Foster’s post “feels pointed.”
