Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton Drummer Jamie Oldaker Dead At 68July 17, 2020
Legendary drummer Jamie Oldaker, who played with great artists such as Eric Clapton, Bob Seger and Peter Frampton, has died at the age of 68.
Oldaker died of cancer at his Tulsa home on Thursday, July 16, surrounded by family members.
Oldaker, who inherited the talent from his father, is regarded as one of the world’s most respected drummers.
A founding member of the Tractors, the Tulsa native was also instrumental in the founding the “Tulsa Sound,” the city’s musical legacy.
“He is as solid as rock and I could listen to him talk all night long, many times I have, his knowledge is a wink and a sparkle in his eye, which says everything,” Clapton said in a tribute to Oldaker.
Oldaker played on 11 albums by the English rock and blues musician.
Frampton described Oldaker as “a very warm, caring, true friend with a gentle heart.”
