Dermot O'Leary reveals newborn son's name live on radio showJuly 4, 2020
Dermot O’Leary has revealed his newborn son’s name with a sweet announcement live on his radio show.
The presenter and his wife Dee Koppang welcomed the little one on 23 June, with the new dad clearly over the moon.
While Dermot has proven his dedication to the show by getting back to work, he gave his son a little shoutout and revealed the pair have named him Kasper, ‘with a K’.
‘My lovely son came into the world ten days ago accompanied by Guy Garvey’s Elbow,’ he explained on BBC Radio 2.
‘So forgive this moment of brief self-indulgance while we play the song that accompanied that. This is for you Kasper with a K – my wife is very insistent on that.’
The 47-year-old added: ‘Kasper Koppang O’Leary welcome to the world!’
The former X Factor host announced the news of his son’s arrival with a sweet photo of a rabbit teddy and a onesie that read: ‘Koppang O’Leary Productions, est. 2020’.
He told fans on Instagram: ‘Welcome to the world baby Koppang O’Leary… We’re delighted to announce that we’ve had a baby!
‘A little boy born on Tuesday 23rd June 2020 (Sankthansaften / Midsummer for you Norwegians) at 8.19am, weighing in at 6lb 13oz.
‘Enjoying the cuddles in the newborn bubble… cats yet to be 100% convinced. Lots of love, Dermot & Dee x ❤️ @deekoppangoleary.’
This is the first child for Dermot and Dee, who tied the knot in 2012.
The couple were also spotted leaving the hospital after Kasper’s arrival, both sporting masks.
Dermot had previously joked about their baby’s timing, saying on The One Show: ‘We’re expecting end of June, early July… the perfect time to bring a child into this world!’
