Demi Lovato Reveals She Suffered Brain Damage After 2018 Overdose

February 24, 2021

Demi Lovato has revealed that she suffered brain damage and multiple strokes after a drug overdose in 2018.

“My doctors said that I had five to 10 more minutes,” Lovato says in the trailer for the upcoming documentary about her near-fatal drug overdose and the effects it had on the singer-songwriter’s life. The four-part documentary series premieres on YouTube on March 23.

YouTube premiered the trailer for Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil on Wednesday.

“I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don’t drive a car, because I have blind spots on my vision,” she told reporters accompanied by the documentary’s director Michael D. Ratner at the Television Critics Association panel.

“And I also for a long time had a really hard time reading. It was a big deal when I was able to read out of a book, which was like two months later because my vision was so blurry,” Lovato added.
