Brendan Cole slams Strictly for axing Nicola Adams when she tested negative for coronavirus

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole has slammed the hit show for axing Nicola Adams even though she tested negative for Coronavirus.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the professional dancer expressed how he felt about Nicola’s dance partner Katya Jones testing positive for coronavirus.

He said: "I don't really understand why Nicola can't carry on through.

"If she gets a test and she's not positive, she can carry on?

"It must be so devastating, I feel for them, I know it's just an entertainment programme but you're so heavily involved from the moment you sign up.

"To be let out of the competition without a reason, well a good reason, without being voted out is devastating.”

Neither gold medallist boxer Nicola or Katya are allowed to return to the hit show which has been a blow to fans, especially as they were the first ever same-sex pairing.

Brendan continued: "I've been there before, it's a hard pill to swallow. I feel sorry for them!"

The dancer, who is from New Zealand, was axed from the show himself in 2018 after he allegedly broke protocol and asked Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, to dance during a festive special.

A Strictly source revealed to The Sun: “The event had been very carefully orchestrated, largely due to Craig’s friendship with Camilla — and everyone, in­c­luding Brendan, had been given an extremely clear briefing.

“It was a tea dance in aid of an osteoporosis charity encouraging older people to stay active and each of the professionals was to pair up with the guests while Craig danced with Camilla.

“But Brendan being Brendan had to make it about him and ignored everyone and made a beeline for Camilla — who politely didn’t cause a scene.

“Everyone was outraged by the cheek of his actions, he always has to be centre of att­ention.

“It was the final straw for everyone involved with the show and the BBC. They just realised he couldn’t be controlled.”
