This Morning: Eamonn and Ruth say goodbye to viewers
Alison Hammond took to social media today to mark Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s This Morning exit. The 45-year-old TV presenter will host the show with Dermot O’Leary in 2021.
Mum-of-one Alison paid tribute to the married couple, who have presented the show on a Friday for 15 years, on Twitter.
“A class above the rest @EamonnHolmes @RuthieeL,” she wrote in view of her 337,800 followers.
Many took to the comments section of her post to share their thoughts.
Some viewers said they were looking forward to seeing Alison on the show, however others expressed their sadness that the duo were leaving.

“Will miss Eamonn and Ruth, they are great and they shouldn’t have to miss their Friday show, get rid of another of Phil and Holly’s days!!
“Won’t be watching on a Friday now unfortunately….” one person wrote online.
Sharing a similar sentiment another added: “What a tragedy … perhaps a day less of the childish, double-entendre, giggling Phil and Holly would have been a much better move!
“@EamonnHolmes and @RuthieeL are truly outstanding presenters and personalities.”
Other fans shared their delight ahead of Alison and Dermot’s debut.
“Looking forward to watching you on a Friday.. enjoy your new job,” one fan wrote.

Ahead of her last show, Ruth, 60, told fans she was going out with a “sparkle”.
Donning a beautiful silver dress, she wrote on Instagram: “Here we go….our last Friday on @thismorning for a while….let’s get out there and Sparkle @eamonnholmes.”
Eamonn also took to the picture-sharing site.
“We bow out of 15 years of our Friday slot on This Morning today.
“Thanks for the memories hope we made some for you too. Until February may it be a Happy Christmas to you all.”
“You will be so missed,” Homes Under The Hammer star Lucy Alexander said in the comments section.
“A 15-year masterclass in how to broadcast,” added BBC news presenter Huw Edwards.
When saying an emotional goodbye on This Morning today, Eamonn said: “Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary – they’re going to be here on Friday’s from here on it.
“And please, we would ask you, to be as nice and lovely to them – as they are friends of ours, and we’re very close to Alison – as you have been to us for the past 15 years.
Ruth and Eamonn will continue to host This Morning during the school holidays when main presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take a break.
