AJ Pritchard, 26, told Express.co.uk that he was looking forward to filming I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in Australia, so he could get a tan. However, due to the restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the ITV production was forced to relocate to a decidedly colder North Wales.

I did not come back with a tan!

The programme filmed in Gwrych Castle over the December period for a total of three weeks.

Speaking on the benefits of filming there, AJ admitted it was handy to have been not far from his parent’s house in Cheshire.

However, he added: “Obviously it is not the same as going to Australia.

“No, I did not come back with a tan. So I was a bit upset about that, but it was great [for the programme] to go ahead.”

Both AJ and his brother Curtis Pritchard lived with their parents for a portion of lockdown at the stunning family home.

Unfortunately, the latter was unable to watch much of his sibling taking part in the gruelling trials, as he was filming for his reality show Celebs Go Dating.

Curtis shared: “I was actually so looking forward to watching every single night.”

AJ responded: “You’re just saying that!”

Curtis continued: “I genuinely was! Then Celebs Go Dating came up and I couldn’t watch it.

“I tried watching it when I could. I just wanted you to do more challenges.

“I wanted you to get in more awkward and horrible situations,” he added.

Despite not being able to make it out to Australia, AJ quickly made friends with his campmates, including podcast host and winner Giovanna Fletcher.

He divulged: “I got on well with Giovanna, that was probably not shown on TV. Where I slept with Russell Watson, such a great guy, such an interesting story, and obviously Mo Farah.

“I literally message him every single day and just talk to him.

“He’s in Ethiopia now in a training camp. Yeah, I really got on well with him and even spoke to his family when we got out which was nice.”

Giovanna eventually won the show and was crowned the first-ever Queen Of The Castle.

Meanwhile, AJ and Curtis host weekly shows on their podcast and are joined by a host of celebrities.

They have already had some great guests on the pod, including AJ’s fellow castle campmate Sir Mo.

The pair admitted they would love to interview the show’s co-hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

AJ told BANG showbiz: ”Me and Curtis interviewing Ant and Dec on the pod would be absolutely epic.”
