Actress Sondra Locke, who was nominated for an Oscar for her debut role in 1968’s “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” and went on to become a frequent Clint Eastwood costar before becoming a director herself, has passed away.
Locke, 74, died on November 3 at her Los Angeles home of cardiac arrest stemming from bone and breast cancer, according the Associated Press.
While most movie fans might know her best from her roles opposite Eastwood, such as 1977’s “The Gauntlet,”  1978’s “Every Which Way But Loose,” and 1983’s “Sudden Impact,” movie Twitter rightly called out a THR headline that referred to her as Eastwood’s “embittered ex.” (The headline has since been changed.)
In 1996, Locke settled a legal suit with Eastwood for allegedly sabotaging her career after their 13-year relationship ended.
She directed her first film, “Ratboy,” in 1986 and went on to direct three more films.Evan Rachel Wood, Frances Fisher and Marg Helgenberger were among those remembering her on Twitter.
