Love Island Joe whisked to ITV ‘safehouse’ after Lucie Donlan backlashJune 19, 2019
The 22-year-old was immediately briefed about the backlash growing against him after he left the villa.
ITV are believed to be keeping him in a safehouse until things have calmed down.
A source said: “Joe has been in the safehouse since leaving the villa.
“There has been a backlash against him and as part of ITV’s new duty of care, they’re doing everything they can to help him deal with it when he comes out.”
A rep for ITV previously confirmed the aftercare process to Daily Star Online, saying: “When the time comes for each Islander to leave the show, our aftercare process kicks in.
“Every Islander has a series of debrief meetings on location with the executive team and the medical team, including the psychological consultant.
“After this, they are told how to access after care support as well as information on seeking professional representation.
“They also meet with the press team the day after leaving the villa and are briefed and advised on their press coverage whilst in the villa.”
Fans turned on Joe earlier this week after he was seen telling Lucie not to be as friendly with Tommy Fury.
Despite Tommy and Lucie being nothing more than friends, Joe branded it “weird” that the blonde gal is closer to boys than girls.
In fact, the businessman even told her to spend more time with the girls to keep him happy.
Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
