Elseworlds Part 1 Was Completely Hysterical

The CW

Never before did we realize how badly we needed some superheroes to swap…bodies? Minds? Identities?

It’s sort of unclear so far what’s actually happening here or why or what other swap movie or show we (or any of the characters) can compare this to, but all we can say after seeing the first part of the latest Arrow/Flash/Supergirl crossover is that we’ve never laughed so hard. We’ve also perhaps never before geek-gasped as hard as we did when the camera panned over the actual Kent farm from Smallville while the actual Smallville theme song played.

Did we even love Smallville as much as we felt like we did during that transition? We genuinely don’t remember, but regardless, that little nod was incredible.

Anyway, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s break this whole thing down with the night’s best moments!

The whole thing started with Oliver waking up in Barry and Iris’ bed and slowly realizing that he was now apparently Barry Allen, and even had Barry’s powers. Iris just thought he was acting weird because he was tired and not getting enough sleep because of Cicada, so he ran (literally) to find Oliver/the real Barry to help him sort it out.

Team Flash, unfortunately, did not believe their story that Barry was Oliver and Oliver was Barry, and under Iris’ orders, Barry and Oliver got knocked out and locked in the pipeline together. Oliver taught Barry how to dislocate his thumb and Barry taught Oliver how to phase through solid objects, and together, they escaped the prison and ran off to the Kent farm (cue “Save Me” by Remy Zero) to get help from Kara, who happened to still recognize them for themselves.

Kara was there hanging out with her cousin Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and his girlfriend, Lois Lane (Bitsie Tulloch), and let’s be honest, Lois was the star of that whole scene, even as she was just watching Barry and Oliver teach each other how to use their abilities, mostly by shooting/making fun of each other.

The CW

Then, Cisco and Caitlin showed up to give some bad news: there was a power-stealing robot on the loose in Central City, and they needed Barry and Oliver’s help, whichever Barry and Oliver they were. Supergirl and Superman came too, just for fun.

With the new knowledge that Barry had to get angry to use Oliver’s abilities and Oliver had to smile, or something, to use Barry’s, they took down evil power-stealing robot and got a chance to find out that Cisco had a vision of a scene we saw at the beginning of the episode—the Monitor, giving Dr. John Deegan a fancy book and telling him to rewrite reality with it. After Barry and Oliver checked out the vision as well and Oliver used his Flash speed to draw the scene, they saw that they’d clearly have to go to Gotham City to find these dudes. And that’s where we now are going into tomorrow night’s episode of Arrow

A few other bits and pieces:

A Pipeline Prison Mystery Solved

Everyone has always wondered at the apparent abuse going on of the meta prisoners held at STAR Labs in those incredibly bare cells, but tonight, we learned that a toilet can be found by kicking a random part of the wall.

Clark and Lois on the Smallville Farm Is Our Aesthetic

Those cozy fall clothes, that farm, that playful and sweet relationship. It’s everything we’ve ever wanted and we’d like to move right on into that portion of this crossover.

That West-Allen Moment

Executive producer Todd Helbing had promised us that the crossover would reaffirm Barry and Iris’ love, and boy did it ever. Iris only momentarily didn’t believe that her husband was her husband, but real Barry knew exactly what to say to convince her he was telling her the truth. And let’s not forget Barry’s instant and absolute panic when he discovered that Oliver had woken up in a bed with Iris (especially since Iris has, in the past, said she’s attracted to Oliver Queen).

The CW

So what comes next?

We’re forbidden from telling you, but let’s just say that a lot is about to happen. Oliver and Felicity will get just about as much time as Barry and Iris did, but we’ll also see Gotham City and Batwoman and get a little idea of what that world is like. There are some fights, some serious superhero easter eggs, some more incredible Barry and Oliver swap moments, and some things that made us both cackle and wonder, “WTF?”

Stay tuned after tomorrow night’s portion to hear some behind-the-scenes bits and pieces from the executive producers!

Elseworlds continues Monday at 8 p.m. with Arrow, then concludes with Supergirl on Tuesday at 8 p.m. on the CW.

When Will Season 23 of 'The Bachelor' Air and Who Will the Bachelorettes Be?

Fans of The Bachelor won’t have to wait long for the next installment. According to a recent announcement from ABC, the 23rd season of the fan favorite show will premiere with a three-hour episode right after the holiday season on January 7, 2019.

Get ready for your Monday nights to feel exciting all over again.

Hands down the best group of women in 23 seasons…but I might be a little biased. ‍♂️ Swipe left and tell me who would get your first impression rose.

‘The Bachelor’ is a guaranteed success

Some find it shocking that a show focused on two dozen women vying for the love of one man could possibly still be popular – but it is. Whether you watch in secret or openly profess your #bachelornation affiliation, the fact remains that ratings are high enough to keep the show on the air this long.

It should come as no surprise that The Bachelor is airing in early January. After all, the 2018 season premiered on January 1st while Season 21 started on January 2, 2017. ABC execs chose not to mess with a good thing when they opted for Colton Underwood’s season to begin in the earliest days of the year.

Fans found out that the ultra-sexy Colton Underwood would be the lucky new bachelor in September 2018 after his appearances on The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. Colton is a former pro football player and perhaps most interestingly, a self-professed virgin. The virginity angle will be one of the main storylines for this season.

But just because he’s saving his virginity for someone special, it doesn’t mean Colton is some kind of angel. He was famously involved in a love triangle with Tia Boothe, who was a contestant on The Bachelor during Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season. Tia admitted to Arie that she still had feelings for Colton while she was still a contestant on the show, but the relationship went south and the pair broke up after only a few weeks.

Who will the women be on ‘The Bachelor’ Season 23?

There are 30 women to start and as always, they all come from different backgrounds.

Alex B., 29, a dog rescuer from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Alex D., 23, a sloth from Boston, Massachusetts
Angelique, 28, a marketing salesperson from Hamilton, New Jersey
Annie, 23, a financial associate from New York, New York
Bri, 24, a model from Los Angeles, California
Caelynn, 23, Miss North Carolina 2018 from Charlotte, North Carolina
Caitlin, 25, a realtor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Cassie, 23, a speech pathologist from Huntington Beach, California
Catherine, 26, a DJ from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Tahzjuan, 25, a business development associate from Castle Pines, Colorado
Tayshia, 28, a phlebotomist from Corona Del Mar, California
Tracy, 31, a wardrobe stylist from Los Angeles, California

Will Colton stay a virgin for the whole season?

View this post on Instagram

Hey Chris… do you think you could get back to work today and introduce some of the women on this season?

A post shared by Colton S. Underwood (@coltonunderwood) on

Even though his virginity will play prominently into the storyline of the show, he has claimed that he’s keeping an open mind and that anything is possible. He may have to send seven of the ladies home on the first episode, but he admitted to being surprised how much physical chemistry he feels even from the first meeting. It’ll make for an interesting season for sure.

Get ready for The Bachelor contestants and Colton to go on adventures to exotic locations including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Portugal, just to name a few.

January is going to be epic.

Pep Guardiola dismisses Uefa threat over Man City being banned for flouting FFP rules

Uefa claim to have “a concrete case” against City over their alleged flouting of Financial Fair Play rules.

The biggest punishment being mooted is kicking City out of Europe for a season.

But Guardiola has held talks with Etihad top brass and believes they will still be allowed to take part next term.

The City boss said: “We will not be banned, no. That’s what I think because I trust in my chairman, my CEO, and what they have explained to me.”

Allegations published last month in German publication Der Spiegel claimed City hid millions of pounds to get round FFP rules.

Uefa chief Aleksander Ceferin said this week that the club will discover “very soon” what punishment they will receive.

Senior figures at the governing body have suggested they could impose “sporting sanctions” rather than a fine.

But Guardiola says if he is wrong, and his side end up with a ban from his favourite competition, they will take it on the chin.

He added: “If it happens, because Uefa decide that, we will accept it and move forward.”

Manchester United win battle to sign Noam Emeran with deal ‘imminent’ following PSG and Juventus interest

The 16-year-old is currently playing for the Ligue 1 side's U19 team, where he has caught the eye of a number of European powerhouses.

According to RMC, a deal to bring Emeran to Old Trafford could be announced imminently in what is seen as a major coup for the Red Devils.

The report claims that a deal could rise to £8.9million, with United to pay £1.7m up-front, with the rest being paid in bonuses.

While they also claim that Emeran has agreed terms with Jose Mourinho's side, and now only has to agree a move away with Amiens.

He is expected to link up with the squad in the winter transfer window, but will not be in the first team plans of the Special One.

Despite being born in France, Emeran is able to feature for the Belgian national side – who are desperate for him to pledge his allegiance.

United are in dire need for new firepower up top with the club winless in the Premier League in their last four outings.

Star striker Romelu Lukaku has netted just five times for the Red Devils this season, as he struggles for form.

Mourinho's men welcome Fulham to Old Trafford tomorrow, where they will be looking to rise from eighth in the table.

Danny Dyer signs a deal with the BBC that bars him from rival channels and limits his appearance on daughter Dani's show

The EastEnders star has signed a “golden handcuffs” deal with the Beeb that bars him from starring in shows on rival channels.

The arrangement, worth around £1million, limits his role on daughter Dani’s forthcoming ITVBe reality show but paves the way for further opportunities on the BBC.

A source said: “Bosses think they’ve struck gold with Danny and are keen to keep him with the BBC for as long as possible.

“The deal will help them achieve that and means they can use him on a host of shows. They’ve already announced a few projects and are dreaming up more.”

Danny, was forced to take a break from EastEnders in early 2017 due to exhaustion and bosses made sure they gave him all the time he needed to get back to his best.

Tonight he hosts Have I Got News For You? on BBC1 and Danny will delve back into his royal roots for a new documentary after hilariously learning he is related to Edward III on Who Do You Think You Are? last year.

Add that to his Albert Square gig and Danny will soon need his own channel.

Desert island Vick

HOPES are high for E4’s reboot of Noughties reality show Shipwrecked.

I can reveal bosses have signed up ex-Strictly star Vick Hope to narrate the series, which returns in early 2019 after seven years.

She will follow in the footsteps of Craig Kelly, the voice of the T4 series, and Andrew Lincoln, the man behind the original Channel 4 show.

Vick said last night: “I’m chuffed to be voicing the all new series of Shipwrecked.

“There are some amazing characters, epic bombshells and lovely waves of nostalgia ahead.”

In keeping with the original format, filming takes place on the South Pacific’s Cook Islands and campmates are split into two tribes to battle it out for new arrivals. There’s a £50,000 prize up for grabs, too.

I do hope they’re flying Vick out there and not making her narrate from a stuffy studio in the UK.

Mary's bag of tricks

I MAY not be a domestic god but even I can work out that Mary Berry’s latest culinary tip raises some alarm bells.

The ex-Bake Off judge has recommended wrapping your cooked turkey in a Sleeping Bag to keep it warm until it is ready to eat.

She said: “For the past couple of years, I’ve been to my children and I always take the turkey, which people think is odd. I went to my daughter Annabel’s last year.

“She cooks most of the things, but I cook the turkey.

“It’s an hour away, so I cook it in my own oven but then it’s done a couple of hours early so I wrap it in foil, cover it in a sleeping bag then stick it in the boot of the car.”

The baking expert will be dishing out her tips on BBC1’s Mary Berry’s Christmas Party on December 17 at 8.30pm.

Remind me never to have a sleepover at Mary’s house – I’d wake up smelling of turkey.

Gold Dust Nation

FORMER Vogue editor Alexandra has nabbed a plum job since leaving the fashion bible.

The journalist, who stepped down in 2017 after 25 years at the helm, is working as a consultant on a new drama series telling the story of the rise of the mag during the Nineties.

Gold Dust Nation is being made by the people behind hit BBC series His Dark Materials and currently has no broadcaster attached.

She is joined on the show by Fiona Golfar, the mag’s former editor-at-large, known for convincing Robbie Williams to get naked for a cover in 2000 next to supermodel Gisele.
I’m sure they can count on him for a cameo.

Soapbox

JEAN continues to pile the pressure on love-rat Alfie in EastEnders.

Stacey’s concerns for Jean grow as she starts to crack under the pressure of Alfie and Hayley’s deceit. Could Stacey be about to work out the truth?

Meanwhile, Maddie tells Mel she wants to confront Ray – unaware a mystery presence is watching them.

Elsewhere, in Coronation Street, Sinead feels her web of lies are getting out of hand when Daniel offers to attend a chemo appointment with her.

When he calls at the factory to collect her, she snaps at him and heads off alone.

Later, Sinead is consumed with guilt and confesses to Billy she hasn’t been attending her chemo sessions.

Must watch

WHAT? Jamie And Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, 8pm, Channel 4.

WHY? Jamie Oliver and pal Jimmy Doherty serve up a hearty feast of easy-to- follow recipes and celebrity banter. Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker pops into the Southend cafe.

Biz bits

  • Dalton Harris’ mum has admitted she used to hit her son – after the X Factor winner claimed he was brought up in poverty with “no love or support”. She said: “I scolded him out of love because growing up, he was very troublesome.”
  • LORD Of The Rings mastermind Peter Jackson still has his eye on directing Doctor Who, though he’s not seen an episode with Jodie Whittaker. He said: “I’ve been so busy. I have to get invited. I’d love to do Doctor Who.”
  • GAME of Thrones’ Richard Dormer has suggested that HBO “may leak stuff on purpose” — before the final season airs in April 2019. The actor, who plays Beric Dondarrion, said during a Sky News interview: “It’s good for the show, because it gets people talking and sometimes I suppose they even leak stuff on purpose.”

Lili Reinhart’s Latest Tweet About Holiday Gift Guides Is A Mood

Like us all, it seems that Lili Reinhart loves looking at all the different gift guides on the world wide web right now.

There are guides for guys, for women, for teens, even for pets! There are last minute guides, subscription box guides, and TV show-centric guides all over the place – and we want all of it!

Lili had the same idea, too: “Holidays are great because websites produce all these articles like ‘gifts your best friend will love’ and ‘affordable gifts for your mom this Christmas’ and I get to see all this sh** that I’m going to end up buying for myself!”

If this isn’t a pure holiday mood, then nothing else is.

  • They have been in emergency accommodation and shelters for two years
  • She filmed Poppy crying when she is told they won’t have a house for Christmas
  • Heartbreaking video sees young girl sobbing and saying  ‘I have nowhere to stay’

A video of a little girl sobbing after being told she has to spend her third Christmas in a hostel has highlighted the plight of the many young victims of Ireland’s housing crisis.

The footage shows Poppy, four, sitting on a bed in a hostel in Dublin, Ireland, crying over not having ‘anywhere to stay’ this Christmas.

Poppy and her mother Leanne Dunleavy, 30, have been in and out of homeless shelters for the past two years.

Homeless: The heartbreaking video of little Poppy, four, was filmed by her mother Leanne Dunleavy, 30, from Dublin, Ireland, who has been homeless for the past two years

Ms Dunleavy, a hair stylist, says they became homeless due to unforeseen circumstances and that she does not expect her situation to change anytime soon.

Her video has racked up more than 167,000 views on Facebook, with many people blaming the Irish Government for Ms Dunleavy’s situation.

One Facebook user wrote: ‘Poor child everyone needs to get out and march, bring this country to a stand still, that’s what needs to happen.’

Ms Dunleavy is heard asking her why she is upset, to which a crying Poppy replies: ‘Because I have nowhere to stay, because we have nowhere else.’

One of many: Poppy is one of more than 3,700 children who are currently homeless and living in emergency accommodation in Ireland

Tragic: Ms Dunleavy, a hair stylist, says her and Poppy became homeless due to unforeseen circumstances and that she does not expect her situation to change anytime soon.

IRELAND’S HOMELESS CRISIS

Some 10,000 people are homeless in Ireland, including more than 3,800 children, the latest official figures show, a number which has trebled in the past four years.

A 300 million euro affordable housing package has been allocated in this year’s budget, but the government has been criticised for not acting fast enough.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar defended his government’s record, pointing to nearly 20,000 new homes expected to be built before 2019.

‘There are limiting factors. There’s only so much concrete, only so many service sites, only so many construction workers. We’re ramping up things as quickly as we can,’ he said.

While Ireland was left with a surplus of houses after a property crash in 2008, it has come nowhere near providing the number needed to keep up with a rapid economic recovery, with rents in Dublin almost 20 per cent above their pre-crisis peak.

While rising, supply is still short of the 35,000 new builds analysts say are needed annually just to keep up with demand.

Ms Dunleavy then replies by asking how does that make you feel, to which little Poppy replies with ‘sad’.

Trying to make her daughter feel better, Ms Dunleavy insists: ‘But we’re going to be together.’

However, Poppy is still in bits, and cries out that she misses her old dog ‘Milly’.

Ms Dunleavy, again tries to reassure her child by saying; ‘When we get a new house we’ll get a new dog’.

‘I don’t want to get a new dog’ cries out Poppy before her mother replies says: ‘We’ll get a new house though won’t we.’

Poppy then cries further before asking: ‘Can I get a new dog?’

Speaking today, Ms Dunleavy said no child should have to suffer homelessness, as Poppy prepares for her third homeless Christmas.

She said: ‘I just wanted to show the government how it’s not only the parents that suffer because we get on with it.

‘It’s tearing the children apart, no child should be spending Christmas for the third time in homeless accommodation and by the looks of things it will probably be a fourth Christmas next year.

‘Loads of lovely people have contacted me and a lot of women that are in the same situation and other people that used to be in the same situation.’

Dakota Meyer Slams ‘Teen Mom OG’ On Social Media, Calling It ‘Trailer Trash Real Housewives’

Dakota Meyer is never afraid to speak his mind on a number of issues, including the show that he and ex-wife Bristol Palin appear on.

As fans of Teen Mom OG know, Bristol and Dakota’s relationship troubles are currently playing out on the show but he feels as though it is a misrepresentation of the way that things really are. Yesterday, the 30-year-old took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the show, going on somewhat of a rant.

“What’s sad is that @Viacom has turned Teen Mom to a trailer trash Real Housewives instead of showing what the true struggles of parenting are. I’ll bring my VLOG back and show you what single parenting looks like since they can’t seem to figure it out.”

Additionally, Meyer shared a screenshot of his tweet on his Instagram page, saying that parenting is way more than “everyone sitting around b****ing about their exes.” So far, the Instagram post has earned the Medal of Honor winner a lot of attention with over 11,000 likes in addition to 500-plus comments. While some followers agreed with Meyer’s post, countless others said that they had a problem with Meyer’s words.

“You had no problem making money off that show that you now have an issue with bc you didn’t like the light they showed you in. Maybe you should be getting help for your PTSD and leave the show be,” one follower commented.

“That’s why I don’t waste my energy or time watching it… pure garbage.”

“True. I would actually love to see a show that has single men doing the job of a single parent,” another wrote.

This is not the first time that Meyer has been the subject of controversy since he began appearing on the hit MTV show. As the Inquisitr shared in October, Meyer and Palin got into an argument on social media about the birth of their daughter. Meyer shared a lengthy caption with fans, saying that he found out that his second daughter was born through social media and not from Bristol herself.

After seeing his post on social media, Palin told a different story saying that for Dakota to say that he found out about the birth of their daughter on Twitter was something that was absolutely “untrue.”

“I will not stand by and allow false evil information, such as this, to be printed for our daughter to see one day,” Palin said.

Teen Mom OG is currently airing Monday evenings on MTV.

Former NFL player Greg Hardy to make UFC debut Jan. 19

The UFC is ready to call up Greg Hardy.

Late Tuesday night, ESPN.com cited UFC President Dana White in reporting that Hardy's promotional debut was close to being finalized for UFC on ESPN+ 1 against Allen Crowder.

Hardy on Wednesday morning seemingly confirmed the booking in an Instagram post.

"???????? Anybody else super hypeeeeeeeeeee God I love my job and life," Hardy said in the post.

UFC on ESPN+ 1 takes place Jan. 19 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and serves as the UFC's debut event on its new deal with ESPN.

Hardy (3-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who was signed to a UFC developmental deal after his first appearance on Dana White's Contender Series in the summer, had been slated for a Dec. 21 regional bout at Island Fights 51. That plan, however, has apparently changed with his imminent UFC debut happening instead.

First baby born using uterus transplant from dead donor, doctors say

The world’s first baby has been born using a uterus transplanted from a deceased donor, according to Brazilian doctors.

The healthy baby girl was delivered last December to a 32-year-old woman who wasn’t born with a uterus. The mother used the uterus of a 45-year-old woman who had three previous children and died of a stroke, as detailed in a case report published in the medical journal Lancet on Tuesday.

The uterus from the deceased donor was implanted during a 10-hour operation. After seven months, doctors implanted an embryo made using in-vitro fertilization to spur the pregnancy.

The baby was delivered by way of a cesarean section on Dec. 15, 2017 at around 36 weeks into the pregnancy. She was 5.6 pounds. Doctors then removed the uterus so the mother would not have to continue anti-rejection medications.

Nearly a year later, the mother and baby are both healthy.

There have been several successful pregnancies using uterus transplants from live donors, since the procedure was pioneered by Swedish doctor Mats Brannstrom about five years ago. The possibility of successful pregnancies using deceased donors expands the possibilities for fertility.

In 2016, doctors at the Cleveland Clinic attempted a pregnancy using a uterus from a deceased donor, but it failed because of an infection.

“The Brazilian group has proven that using deceased donors is a viable option,” said the Cleveland Clinic’s Dr. Tommaso Falcone. “It may give us a bigger supply of organs than we thought were possible.”

The Brazilian researchers are planning two more uterus transplants as part of the study.

“There are still lots of things we don’t understand about pregnancies, like how embryos implant,” said Dr. Cesar Diaz, who co-authored an accompanying commentary in the journal. “These transplants will help us understand implantation and every stage of pregnancy.”
