Masterchef fans were left outraged after a contestant revealed he had never eaten a ready meal.
Art curator Tim, 26, confessed he has never tried a microwave meal, despite having attended university, and has always cooked from scratch instead.
The revelation shocked viewers, with some claiming Tim must be ‘lying’ about his eating habits.

Fans of the show weren’t impressed that the eager cook has never eaten a ready meal and expressed their surprise on Twitter
The eager contestant was among those competing for a place in the next round as the show returned to BBC1 on Monday.

Tim’s ready meal claim threw fans right at the beginning of the show and left some believing he was not to be trusted.
One tweeted : ‘Tim learned to cook at university and has never eaten a ready meal? Can’t be trusted. Next.’
Other fans went as far as to brand Tim ‘smug’, while others said he ‘cannot be trusted’
Another tweet read: ‘Reaching 26 without eating a ready meal is not something to boast of. Bet he thinks it comes from a virtue in his upbringing rather than privilege.’
A third said: ‘Tim’s never eaten a ready meal. Bully for Tim.’ While others shared funny GIF’s of what he has said.
Another posted: ‘Oh, it’s ready meal Tim. That’s his name now.’

The new series started with all of the contestants picking ingredients from a ‘market stall’ and creating a dish round what they had picked up, but for some it was daunting.
The show also saw other contestants try and make it through to the final three, including 67-year old Gary who failed to impress in the first round and was sent home after making a korean dish that the judges weren’t impressed with.
Also on the show was Frank, 34, from Hackney, who was hoping to impress the judges with his souffle skills.

But it was his Sri Lankan chicken in the second round that meant he didn’t make it through to the final three at the end.
The show also saw some of last years finalists come back to judge the food – including David Crichton, Kenny Tutt and Nawamin Pinpathomrat – who judged the four remaining contestants’ food on presentation, texture and taste.
But despite Tim’s revelation about his eating habits at university he did a lot to impress the judges, making it to the next round.
