There are dozens of reports of furious TalkTalk customers unable to send emails or connect to internet this evening.
Eight hundred reports have been logged on the website downdetector.com.
The problem was first reported seven hours ago but has continued.
On the TalkTalk service website it says: "Due to a network fault with one of our service providers, customers are unable to access their emails either through webmail or using an email client such as the mail app on the mobile device or outlook on your PC."
The latest update was at 4.50pm which reads: "We're continuing to work with our service provider and their engineers who are making good progress towards restoring the service.
"We'd like to apologise for the inconvenience this may caused today and as that you check back later for updates as we'll keep you updated on our progress right here."
Down Detector, which tracks online outages, is showing a swathe of problems with customers in London, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, and Southampton all complaining of the outage.
One TalkTalk customer said: “Email not working – keep getting message that the TalkTalk server has timed out.”
Another added: “No email in Cornwall again and broadband speed is a lot slower than their website says it is.
“I have been with them for years and they have been ok until the last couple of months. What's going on?”
